Our Local Sports Partnership are aware that our school is working towards renewing our Active School Flag. Kildare Sports Partnership's Sports Inclusion Disability Officer provided us with a fantastic list of clubs and activities that cater to families and children of all abilities. The list is available below.

In the past we have availed of the swimming pool at St. Raphael’s to provide swimming lessons for the children from 1st-6th Class. While the pool is no longer available (post Covid), we endeavour to teach the Land PAWS programme to ensure the children are aware of how to stay safe around water.

We have an excellent Active School Committee who keeps our children and staff up to date on what is going on with the Active Flag, keeps our noticeboard in order, and brings suggestions to staff. The selection process for the Active School Committee involves the children writing about their interest and involvement in Sport and what they feel they can contribute to the school.  The 2023 committee are Audrey and Akhil from 6th, Leonie and Diana from 5th, Danny and Cian from 4th, and Robyn and Eva from 3rd.

We linked with various sports clubs in the local area during Active Week in the past to promote some different sports opportunities for the children e.g. Bushido Martial Arts and Excel Gymnastics. In 2023, our Active Week will take place from 29th May to 2nd June. This year we will have a soccer skills coach from KlaasKickz on 1st June, and are also looking forward to a day of taster sessions from Modern Pentathlon Ireland on 14th June.

We have been registered with The Daily Mile initiative (https://thedailymile.ie/) for several years at this point, and all of the classes avail of this active break every day. Primrose Hill Students recently took part in World Daily Mile Day.

The senior classes have just completed their series of Rugby lessons from Holly Leach, a former pupil and member of Barnhall Rugby Club.

We love celebrating our pupils' active achievements on our Active Notice Board in school so send in photos and let's celebrate!
