On Thursday 13th June Mrs Doyle and Mrs Kerr brought 2nd, 3rd and 4th Classes to Lullymore Heritage Park. They were kept very busy all morning with guided tours of the woodlands, spotting lots of wildlife, including a newt. They then visited the new building over the bog. They have a model of a bogman in it and lots of information on native species to the area. The bog is inhabited by native wildlife including pine martin, red squirrels and hares. They visited a famine house and an early Christian centre where they saw a model of a monastery and a monk at work in the scriptorium. They had a lovely trip through the bog in the train. They also enjoyed the pet farm where they saw goats, pigs, donkeys, geese and goslings and an alpaca. Their guide for the morning commented on their concentration and knowledge. He said they were exceptional. They finished up with a fun play time in the inside play area and finally in the outside playground. Everyone was tired on the way home but they had had a great day.
