Dear School Community Member,

Members of Sixth Class have entered a competition run by SEAI (Sustainable Energy Association of Ireland) and have gotten through to the final 20.
The competition is called “One Good Idea” and our idea is to get people to turn off their car engine when it is not necessary to have it on, for  example; when waiting to collect someone from school; when dropping some off or when dropping someone in to the shop to pick up something quickly.
We hope you appreciate this email and take on board what we are encouraging you to do.
Our slogan is: ………
YOU MIGHT BE HERE FOR A WHILE,
SO TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE AND SMILE!
Thank you,
5th and 6th Class.

5th and 6th Class have got through to the final 20 in the SEAI One Good Idea Competition. Their One Good Idea is to turn off your car engine when it is not necessary to have it on e.g. when you are pulling in and waiting to collect someone. As part of this project, to teach all the children in the school about climate change and our carbon footprint, children from 5th and 6th Class designed and made excellent and fun board-games. Have a look at our photos of them designing and then playing the games.
